Sometimes it can be really difficult to find time to work out during the day–especially for those of us who have full-time jobs. I’ve seen article after article on information about working out while you are work. There are so many ways that an office worker can get a workout in. But what about other types of jobs that don’t offer that same flexibility (pardon the pun). I want to focus on ways to get in that physical fitness if you work in the Utah heavy hauling industry.

So what can a truck driver do to stay healthy? Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do while driving the truck, other than tightening your muscles throughout the day. Others have mentioned that you can do arm curls, but this isn’t a safe idea. When you are driving, it is crucial that you focus on driving. But you can take short little breaks every couple of hours. When you take your breaks, that is when you need to get your workout in. When you stop at a rest stop, you can take a quick jog (this is also perfect for increasing your awareness and alertness, just in case you are feeling a bit tired behind the wheel). Even just a short, brisk walk around will help–anything to get the blood flow going. So, get creative and find new ways to work out while on the road.
